Apart from interacting on the job, they also spent a lot of their free time together doing domestic family activities with Shinpachi and Kagura, like having dinner together, attending festivals, going on holidays, visiting the bath house, and shopping. They also worked together several times to help Shinpachi when he got played by a girl and when Shinpachi tried to save his childhood friend from a biker gang. When the loan shark came to collect his debt, he gave Tae two options as a way to repay him, sell the dojo or sell herself. Gintoki then offered his business card and introduced himself as Yorozuya Gin-chan, an odd job who does all kinds of work. Tae brought Gintoki back to her house and demanded that he take responsibility since she and her brother needed every penny they could find to protect their father’s dojo. The relationship between Gintoki and Tae began in the first chapter when Gintoki tried to run away after causing her brother to get fired and framed for his crime.
